Building bundles that solve a customer need
Choose bundle contents from a customer task, check compatibility and component stock, and describe the complete set accurately.
Build each bundle around one task a customer wants to complete. Choose components that work together, then record how the set is stocked, picked and packed. The product page and the parcel must contain the same items and variants.
Choose contents from the task
Name the task before choosing products. For a camera purchase, a bundle can pair a camera with memory cards, a case and an extra battery. Give every component a clear role in completing that purchase; do not add an item just to make the basket larger.
Check each memory card, case and extra battery against the camera model or variant sold in the set. List only combinations that have been checked, and mark any optional component as optional. If a required part is missing, the bundle does not deliver the task as described.
Keep a bundle recipe for each sellable version. Record its bundle SKU, each component SKU and quantity, the selected size or colour where relevant, compatibility limits and the packing instruction. Where customers can choose variants, record which choices are allowed and check the product page against that recipe.
Check that the set can be supplied
Use one SKU for the bundle offer and keep a component-level recipe underneath it. For each component, divide its available quantity by the number required per bundle; the smallest whole-number result is the maximum number of complete bundles available.
When a bundle order is accepted, reduce the available stock of every component by the quantity in its recipe. Keep bundle and individual-item sales on the same component stock balance; separate counts can allow both offers to promise the same unit.
Make the packing instruction follow the recipe: pick each listed component, check its variant and quantity, and confirm the complete set before dispatch. Decide how orders are identified, packed and returned, and account for any different packing or delivery arrangements.
Check whether the set remains worthwhile using the brand’s actual component, packing, payment, delivery and relevant return costs. Detailed price and promotion testing belongs to the separate pricing decision.
Explain the offer precisely
Show the exact contents, eligible variants, total price and relevant delivery terms before checkout. State when an accessory is optional and when the advertised use requires it. Put compatibility limits beside the model or variant choice they affect.
Check the product page against the packing instruction: the component names, quantities and selected variants must agree. A bundle can offer convenience without a discount. If a saving is advertised against separate purchases, verify that the items and prices are genuinely comparable and keep the calculation current.
Keep or revise the set
Review customer questions, component availability, packing errors, returns and the complete order’s costs. Read complaints before changing the set: a confusing description and an incompatible component need different fixes.
Keep a bundle that serves its stated task and can be supplied as described. Revise its contents or explanation when they do not align; retire it while honouring orders already placed if the set no longer makes sense.
